Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About apyUSD (apyUSD)
apyUSD is a yield-bearing vault token issued by the Apyx protocol that converts off-chain dividend cash flows from Digital Asset Treasuries into on-chain yield.
- The token follows the ERC-4626 standard and acts as a yield-bearing wrapper for apxUSD, a USD-denominated stablecoin.
- It is collateralized by preferred equity shares from publicly-listed Digital Asset Treasury companies such as Strategy (MSTR).
- Holders earn passive yield through an exchange rate appreciation mechanism similar to the savings mechanisms of other major DeFi protocols.
What Is apyUSD
apyUSD is the savings asset of the Apyx protocol, designed to transform dividends from real-world assets into programmable digital dollars. It is a synthetic asset that accrues value from dividends paid by Digital Asset Treasury (DAT) companies, which are publicly traded entities that hold digital assets and issue preferred stock.
Value moves through the system by bundling these diversified preferred shares and capturing their monthly dividend payments. The token is put to work by being held in the Apyx yield vault, where the accumulated cash dividends are distributed by increasing the apyUSD-to-apxUSD exchange rate over time. This mechanism allows the protocol to scale as it acquires more preferred equity from DATs, thereby increasing the underlying collateral base and yield potential for users as the ecosystem grows.
What Makes apyUSD Unique
- Dividend-backed backing: Unlike traditional stablecoins backed by fiat or crypto-collateral, apyUSD is supported by dividends from publicly-listed preferred equity.
- Institutional-grade transparency: The protocol provides daily updated Net Asset Value (NAV) dashboards and real-time visibility into the underlying exchange-listed securities.
- Nasdaq-listed support: Apyx is supported by DeFi Development Corp. (Nasdaq: DFDV), bringing a level of regulatory compliance and institutional oversight to the decentralized finance space.
- Passive yield mechanism: Users earn yield without the need for staking or manual claiming, as the exchange rate between apyUSD and apxUSD appreciates automatically.
What Can You Use apyUSD for?
apyUSD is pegged to the US Dollar.
- Value retention: The asset allows users to hold a digital, on-chain representation of the US Dollar, which may reduce exposure to crypto-market volatility while maintaining purchasing power through yield.
- Yield generation: Holders earn double-digit yields derived from dividends paid by publicly traded preferred equity shares and treasuries, according to protocol documentation. The yield is accrued passively through the appreciating value of the vault token relative to its base stablecoin.
- Cross-border settlement / value transfer: apyUSD can be used for international remittances or global trade, enabling the frictionless transfer of US Dollar value across supported blockchain networks like Ethereum and Base.
- Collateralization: The token is designed for use as backing in borrowing and lending protocols, such as Morpho, or as margin for derivatives within the DeFi ecosystem, as supported by the source.
How Does apyUSD Work?
The protocol functions by wrapping the non-yield bearing apxUSD stablecoin into the apyUSD vault, which follows the ERC-4626 standard for yield-bearing tokens. The underlying collateral consists of preferred shares from DAT companies that pay monthly cash dividends; these dividends are then used to increase the internal exchange rate of apyUSD. This system ensures that the value of apyUSD increases relative to apxUSD over time as dividends accumulate. As an application utility token, its transaction-related costs are categorized as protocol service fees rather than network gas.
