CoinGecko Strengthens Leadership with New CEO, President, and CTO

These changes will help us scale our enterprise offerings, expand our developer ecosystem, and continue delivering reliable, high-quality data to millions of users worldwide.

Bobby Ong Appointed CEO, TM Lee Transitions to President

Our co-founder and COO, Bobby Ong, is stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer, succeeding fellow co-founder and former CEO, TM Lee, who will transition to President.

After more than a decade as COO, Bobby has played a pivotal role in shaping CoinGecko’s business strategy, scaling operations, and expanding our global presence. Under his leadership, we’ve grown into a platform relied upon daily by millions of users worldwide, with our crypto data API powering exchanges, wallets, and financial institutions across both web3 and traditional finance.

As President, TM will advance our long-term product vision and lead zero-to-one R&D initiatives, driving foundational innovation to keep CoinGecko at the forefront of market leadership and shape the next decade of crypto.

Appointment of New CTO and Head of Product

Cedric Chan will be appointed Chief Technology Officer, where he will lead CoinGecko’s technical roadmap and infrastructure development.

Since joining as Head of Engineering in 2021, Chan has strengthened CoinGecko’s reliability, security and compliance controls. These improvements have propelled CoinGecko’s API growth to surpass 677 billion requests in the past year, with thousands of customers onboarded since launch. Chan also established key functions and leadership roles in data, site reliability, and software testing, creating the framework to scale and institutionalize technical operations.

As CTO, Cedric will lead our technical roadmap and infrastructure development, forge key technology partnerships, embed AI into operations, and design the next generation of scalable data systems to meet the rising demand for real-time, high-fidelity crypto data.

In parallel, Xingyi Ho has been appointed Head of Product, transitioning from his role as Head of Growth. Since joining CoinGecko in 2022, Xingyi has pioneered new growth functions, including product growth and analytics, growth marketing, and SEO. In his new role, he will drive product strategy across our offerings and ensure our roadmap stays aligned with evolving user needs.
