Return of Ronin
The Ronin network will be returning to the Ethereum ecosystem as a Layer-2.
At the same time, the blockchain will transition from its gaming-focused roots into a more general-purpose chain.
Based on the project's latest article, transaction times are expected to improve by 12x after the migration.
RON staking rewards will now be distributed to builders through a new Proof-of-Distribution model.
In a nutshell, rewards will now flow to contributing projects based on their staked RON and builder score, an aggregated figure of metrics such as TVL, revenue, and mindshare.
The migration has been divided into 2 phases, and is expected to be complete by the second quarter of 2026.
Since the announcement, Ronin's native RON token is trading 4% lower at $0.54.
