Validators secure the network through a proof-of-stake consensus protocol, which allows for fast and low-cost transaction processing.

How Does Avalanche Work?

There are three different blockchains that form the Avalanche network.

• The Contract Chain (C-Chain) supports the creation and execution of smart contracts with its Avalanche Virtual Machine, which is based on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)
• The Platform Chain (P-Chain) manages the network of validators.
