How Does Bitlight Work?

Bitlight operates as a scaling solution that combines the RGB protocol and the Lightning Network. It uses the Lightning Development Kit (LDK) as a foundation for its RGB Lightning Network Node (RLN), which manages the off-chain state of assets.

The protocol employs "single-use seals" and client-side validation to ensure transaction integrity. This means that instead of every node on the network verifying every transaction, only the sender and receiver validate the state transition, which is then anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain for finality. Protocol service fees within the Bitlight ecosystem are paid using the LIGHT token, which facilitates the execution of smart contracts and asset transfers.

Bitlight Labs is the development team behind the project and is a member of the LNP/BP Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to the development of the Lightning Network and RGB protocol.
